It’s the holiday season, and for many of us that means spending time with loved ones and enjoying delicious meals together. But for those who are struggling with homelessness or housing insecurity, the holidays can be a difficult and isolating time. That’s why it’s so important for non-profits and community organizations to step up and provide a sense of warmth and belonging for those in need.
Holiday Feast at Kirkwood Apartments
Ayr and District (Kirkwood Apartments) has a yearly event that brings together our tenants from all walks of life to celebrate the holiday season. Held in Kirkwood’s own activity hall, we transformed it into a festive and welcoming affair, with music, decorations, and of course, a delicious meal prepared by volunteers. But beyond the festivities, the event serves a much more important purpose: to bring our community together.
